Weekly Update #3 - Polishing Area 1
I've been working on the 0.6.0+ build and Area 1 of 3 is almost fully playable, I'm having someone playtest it and stuff and I too am playtesting it. I did say that I'll create a separate itch.io page for Eistrofolk once 2/3 acts are completed. But this 1 act is fairly solid.
As you can see on the screenshot, the hardest difficulty, "Homophobic" is really fucked up. Basically, it's permadeath. There is NO way of reviving a party member when it dies. Not only that, but save points are limited. The way the enemies progress in difficulty is interesting, since you can't grind in the game and EXP is limited, each set of enemies have their own sort of puzzle-esque solutions to them.
I have play tested and balanced the game myself, so I made sure it's possible to beat it without losing a party member. But the resources are extremely fuckin tight, tighter than a minor (dark humor, i'ma no creep). However, I played it without using single use save points, since even without that I was already going fuckin insane.
Each chapter is split into areas, and each area is split into acts. Area 1 is practically done but I'm adding a couple more stuff in it, the gameplay of Area 1 of Chapter 1 is roughly 3 and a half in hours. Each act progressively evolves in difficulty because the way the enemies evolve in difficulty basically have them counter the possible dominant strategy that the player can do.
For example, Early game has fast DPS and managing resources. Next is stun locking enemies. Next, some enemies can't be stunned or are temporarily immune to being stunned. Then enemies can then be immune to PHYSICAL attacks means you have to find ways to remove the buffs that remove PHYSICAL attacks or use other ways of damaging enemies.
I'm also making some platforming challenges because it seemed like an obvious choice.
Perhaps in the next week development update, I'll give a link to the discord and in the discord I'm going to release the build so that play testers can give it a test drive. I am incredibly proud of this build.
P.S. In the bonuses it says "Explicit Sex Scenes" that's a joke, I couldn't come up with a bonus for the hardest difficulty.
